Daan Utsav – Joy of Giving Week in India

Daan Utsav is India’s “festival of giving”, celebrated every year on 2nd October- 8th Oct. Earlier this was called the ‘Joy of Giving Week’. This celebration started in 2009 to spread love, joy and happiness among those who are less privileged than us.

Every year millions of people from auto drivers to CEOs, school children, homemakers to opinion leaders, social groups, NGOs give their time, money, resources or skills back to society- by creating or contributing in events of their choice. It may not be possible that every Indian organize an event to celebrate this festival; however “giving” event could be as simple as a family taking out the maid’s children for an ice-cream party, donating books, bags, food, clothes, gifts to NGOs or at least individually we can celebrate by helping poor people. Please visit the official website joyofgivingweek.org to know more and spread all over India.
